The Soul in Glass – Contratto Silvio Vigliaturo

20 June 2022 - 28 February 2023

Ancient bricks, centuries-old lathes, endless stacks of resting wine bottles are interspersed with extraordinary Glass sculptures, which emphasize the fundamental role of this material, a skillful guardian of soul. The works come alive with the stroke, the chromaticisms, the gold and silver leaves that the artist manages to skillfully insert inside the glass, thanks to his precise alchemical experiments. For Contratto, glass is the container of his divine nectar, a material that allows the process of fermentation of sparkling wine to be completed and the most balanced aroma to be expressed through respect for precise methods and rhythms of nature, like a magical alchemy.

Vigliaturo’s works come alive with the strokes, the chromatics, the gold and silver leaves that the artist manages to insert inside the glass, thanks to his most personal working process. Vigliaturo plays the role of the master alchemist in his art workshop in Chieri, from which his fluid and colorful works depart, for collections and museums, traversing the world. For Contratto, glass is the container of his divine nectar, a material that allows the fermentation process to be completed, succeeding in allowing the sparkling wine to express the most balanced aroma through respect for precise methods and rhythms of nature, like a magical alchemy.

This evocative and historically rich place becomes a theater for colorful crystals with a cubist-pop trait, representing faces, bodies, and symbolic characters, which, like singsong figures, stimulate those who enjoy them to experience magical moments among penumbras, lights and colors through a path that involves body and soul.
