“Descension” is an extended project through which Alberto Selvestrel transports us within a time dilation to explore the continuous and quiet relationship between the things of the world.
He connects pulsions that were not necessarily experienced close together, and by associating them later, he rescales horizons by extending reality from our usual way of conceiving it. He immerses himself in situations by placing himself on a par with things and captures unconventional impulses by photographing subjects in situations of estrangement and dependence.
He captures the power of nature, making us perceive its immense grandeur as well as its sudden fragility. Suggestions that are never exhausted in their ambiguity.
Observing the lysed steps of a building and the waves of the sea, one finds a link between stillness and movement, solidity and fluidity, transience and nascence; situations coordinated outside the categories in which we are wont to read them.
The installation of the exhibition has been designed specifically to make this dilation feel, to make each and every shot at its own size, and to bring about during the visiting experience a closer and more faithful feeling of discovery of the relationships, between space, time, and situations before us.
The same process of creating this project is thus returned to the viewer, who can continue to weave in turn the inexhaustible network of meanings.
