Chiara Cirio is an artist who has been experimenting with different languages and materials since the beginning of her career. Following a degree in sculpture at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, and a Master’s degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, she has been approaching the language of painting since 2015.
“There is a strong connection between the pictorial sign and the continuous and constant gesture on a block of marble. Every gesture that generates a sign is determined by that moment of security in which one embraces the ocean of possibilities. Just as in sculpture, my painting is an attempt to reveal constant truths.”
Her artworks present archetypal figures and symbols that link poetry and reason, evoking a strong emotional charge.
A further element that distinguishes Chiara’s painting is the use of unconventional materials related to wine-making processes. The basis of her artworks consists of cardboard ‘filters’ on which the memories of wine remain imprinted.
